Alexandria, Sydney Park, sculpture
The golden light of the sunset that I featured yesterday is reflected in this sculpture called "The Trail", created in 1990 by Micheal Snape. It is located on top of a hill in the northwestern corner of Sydney Park, in the inner city suburb of Alexandria.

I have never seen this before and I thought I had wandered all over Sydney Park!
The NE corner - the brick stacks are the NW corner - so the NE must be that main hill. The absolute NE corner holds a cricket ground with grandstand.
This is a fabulous sculpture. I bet it changes every hour of the day.
I shall have to go and have another wander over Sydney Park. Thank you so much for being my eyes and ears.

This looks like sheet of metal twirl about. I always think, if you are famous, you can do anything, and people would say Great art.
Then, I an no art appreciator of Art. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

Julie, sorry, my mistake. I should have said northwestern corner of Sydney Park. It's the smaller hill directly behind the chimneys. You're right, the cricket pitch and grandstand are in the northeastern corner.
Ann, today is very hot in Sydney. We're expecting 35 degrees.
I love this and I'm assuming it's made of copper? If it is I bet it will be amazing when it gets some patina.
Paula, it's not copper. I don't know what sort of metal has been used but it's actually painted that colour.

Nice sculpture but I was more intrigued by the phrase "inner city suburb"! I live in an suburb outside of LA (Westlake Village--westlakeimpressions.blogspot.com) and no US cities (as far as I know) have inner city suburbs, just suburbs around cities and exurbs around the suburbs. It's an interesting concept and I'm curious to know what that phrase means in Australia!

SmallBizMom, the term 'inner city suburb' is used to describe the suburbs surrounding or close to the central business district. They are mostly older suburbs that tend to have high density housing, narrower streets and laneways. We tend to call the central business district 'the city' and have a lot of general terms to describe the suburbs around them, although none have been officially designated. These include inner city, inner west, eastern suburbs, north shore, northern beaches, greater western Sydney etc.
I love sculptures and this one is magnificent. Is it bronze or maybe copper? Whatever it is, it's a gorgeous design and stunning color. Thanks for posting.
