Millers Point, bridges

The Windmill Street Bridge and the Munn Street Bridge over Hickson Road at Millers Point. The road was cut out of the sandstone cliff to provide a link between the wharves on Walsh Bay and those being built at Darling Harbour, requiring these bridges to be built in 1910.

Terrific bridge shot. As I scrolled down I expected water.
I looked at a lot of your blog posts. You take beautiful photos. Cool idea to have a blog with pictures of a certain locale.
Thanks for visiting mine as well.

The structure of this area is complex, isn't it? All as a result of the changes wrought after the plague. And of the need to have upper and lower access to the wharves. A good perspective to this shot, Jim.

Surely much history traveled both beneath and on top. Impressive.

i think i've been above this bridge looking down at night. great shots to be had at night if you get a chance to be on the bridge. interesting lighting of the road below :-)

There's something alluring about the sweep of the road, which was designed to take rail, and may still. As much as I hate much of our RTA xs signage, that zigzag on the road looks - almost funky.

imagine the engineers were so good back then. Today, we had an opening of our new viaduct. It was pouring, we didn't go.

Super bridge shot, Jim... I like your angle that shows both of them.

Two very workmanlike bridges.

WOW, the angle makes this photo double super :-D

Very wide bridges. It is such a marvel when you think of the road being cut out of the stone in 1910 without the modern equipment we have today. MB
