Royal Botanic Gardens, Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail

The Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail is an exhibition of hand-painted koala sculptures located in the Royal Botanic Gardens from 4 October to 30 November 2019. The unique designs are painted by Australian artists on these one metre high sculptures to encourage people to care for Australian plants and wildlife. More of these can be seen here.

Newtown, mural

This mural has been painted on the side wall of a liquor shop, on the corner of King Street and Whateley Street, in the inner city suburb of Newtown. The mural promotes the craft beer Young Henrys which is brewed in a nearby micro brewery,

St Andrew's Cathedral

St Andrew's Cathedral is located on the corner of George Street and Bathurst Street. It is a cathedral church of the Anglican Diocese of Sydney in the Anglican Church of Australia. This heritage listed building was originally designed by James Hume, with the nave built in 1837. Edmund Blacket took over the design in 1846 in the Victorian Academic Gothic style and completed it in 1868.

Circular Quay, ferry

This ferry has departed the Circular Quay ferry wharves and spun around to create waves between the Sydney Opera House and Bennelong Apartments, as it heads towards Sydney Harbour. The Sydney RiverCats are a class of catamarans operated by Harbour City Ferries on the Parramatta River from Circular Quay to Parramatta.

St Martins Tower

St Martins Tower is located at 31 Market Street, between York Street and Clarence Street and consists of office and retail space. Built in 1974 by St Martins Property Corporation of England, it is 36 storey high. It was refurbished in 1989 and in 2006, with the facade and building internally refurbished.

Pyrmont Bridge, banners

These colourful banners have been installed along Pyrmont Bridge, a swing bridge over Cockle Bay in Darling Harbour. The banners promote Darling Harbour as a place to "Play", "Explore", "Shop", "Celebrate", Stay", "Dine". In the distance are the Sydney Convention Centre, Sofitel Hotel, Novotel Hotel and the Harbourside shopping centre, in the inner city suburb of Pyrmont.

John Frazer & Co, warehouse

The former John Frazer & Co warehouse is located along York Street. This six storey commercial and office is a heritage building designed by G.A. Mansfield and built in 1866 in the Victorian Free Classical style with Romanesque and Egyptian influences in decoration. The two additional floors were added in 1936 in a simple style.

Camperdown, University of Sydney, Anderson Stuart Building

The entrance to the Anderson Stuart Building, on the University of Sydney campus, in the inner city suburb of Camperdown. This heritage listed building was originally designed by James Barnet and built in 1884-90 in the Elizabethan Revival architectural style. Walter Liberty Vernon, Government Architect 1909-12 added north west and north east extensions. In 1922 the Professor of Architecture Leslie Wilkinson completed the north facade, inserting a pavilion between the earlier wings. Each addition has been designed to complement the earlier stages of the building. It houses the Faculty of Medicine.

Enmore, mural

This mural has been painted on the side wall of the beer garden of The Golden Barley, a pub on the corner of Llewellyn Street and Edgeware Road, in the inner city suburb of Enmore. The mural depicts and promotes the micro brewery Young Henrys in the neighbouring suburb, which also supports the local rugby league football team, the Newtown Jets.

Rookwood, Mausoleum of the Resurrection

The Mausoleum of the Resurrection is a Catholic chapel in Rookwood Necropolis, in the western suburb of Rookwood. It was designed by Gardner Wetherill in collaboration with Bowden McPeake Architects and built in 2002.

Green Square Library is located along Botany Road, in the inner city suburb of Zetland. Green Square Library and Plaza were designed by Stewart Hollenstein in association with Stewart Architecture and built in 2018.

Sydenham, railway station (Theme Day: Orange)

Sydenham railway station is a junction for the T4 Illawarra, T8 East Hills and T3 Bankstown railway lines, in the inner west suburb of Sydenham. This heritage-listed railway station was built in 1884 as part of the Illawarra line from Redfern to Hurstville.

This mural has been painted on the back wall of the beer garden along Lynch Lane belonging to The Golden Barley. Rookwood, Human Donation Memorial

The Human Donation Memorial is located in Rookwood Cemetery in the western suburb of Rookwood. Created by Everton for the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), this Memorial commemorates the people who have donated their bodies to medicine and science. The art pieces include an array of corten steel panels with the design of a remembrance tree for the purpose of flower placement during ceremonies. Also part of this memorial, is a brass disk artwork which is the focal point of the memorial garden along with a series of uniquely designed bronze plaques sitting upon cylindrical granite plinths nearby.

Darling Harbour, Clearview Cruises

This cruising glass boat, operated by Clearview Cruises is moored at King Street Wharf at Darling Harbour. The Cape Bowling Green lighthouse at the Australian Maritime Museum can be seen in the distance.

Pacific Power Building, 201 Elizabeth Street

The former Pacific Power Building is located at 201 Elizabeth Street. The 40 storey office and retail building, bounded by Elizabeth Street, Park Street and Castlereagh Street, was completed in 1978.

MLC Centre and Stockland Glasshouse

MLC Centre and Stockland Glasshouse are office and commercial buildings which face each other along King Street. This view is from another office building, 400 George Street, across Pitt Street Mall.The MLC Centre is one of the tallest skyscrapers in Sydney and rises to 67 floors above Castlereagh Street between Martin Place and King Street. Stockland Glasshouse is a 27 floor skyscraper above King street with entrances from Pitt Street Mall and Westfield Sydney.

Five Dock, mural

This mural is located on the laneway wall at Fred Kelly Place, in the inner west suburb of Five Dock. "The Way In or The Way Out?" is a ceramic tile painting created by Virginia Arregui in 2016 to celebrate the multicultural diversity of the suburb's community. The artwork features doorways from around the world, shown side by side.

Narwee, railway station

The platform at Narwee railway station, in the southern suburb of Narwee. It is served by Sydney Trains T8 Airport & South Line services. The station opened in 1931 when the East Hills line opened from Tempe to East Hills.

Napoleon Plaza, railway station entrance

A view of two entrances to Wynyard railway station from Napoleon Plaza, on the corner of Napoleon Street and Kent Street. Wynyard Walk links Wynyard railway station to Barangaroo. The big orange "T" sign on the glass lift is found at entrances of all train stations around Sydney. The large glass awning covers stairs and escalators down to the pedestrian tunnel leading to the railway station. The Western Distributor off ramp is located above and the American Express office building is in the distance.

This colourful display was located in the St Mary's Cathedral forecourt at Cook and Phillip Park, as part of the annual Living Colour Festival last year. The Australian Museum can be seen in the distance.

Australian Red Cross headquarters

The former headquarters of the Australian Red Cross is located along Clarence Street. It was originally built in 1939 in the art deco style as a warehouse and showroom for wholesalers, S Hoffnung and Co. It was restored and redeveloped as a heritage A-Grade office building in 2014. The buildings on either side have been redeveloped since then with brick facades matching the streetscape and taller towers rising above them.

Belmore, mural

This mural is painted on the side wall of Flame'N Good, a take-away shop on the corner of Burwood Road and Collins Street, in the south western suburb of Belmore.

Bexley North, railway station

A view of the entrance to Bexley North railway station from Bexley Road, in the southern suburb of Bexley North. The big orange "T" sign is found at entrances of all train stations around Sydney. The signs on the fences announce that the entrance will soon be upgraded,with a lift installed to provide better access to the platform.

James Hardie House

The former "James Hardie House", also known as "Asbestos House", is a commercial and office building along York Street. The thirteen storey building was designed in two parts by Robertson & Marks in the Inter-war Stripped Classical style with some Art Deco influences, originally built in 1929 and extended in 1935. The building had a long historic association as the headquarters of the well-known Australian firm James Hardie Pty. Ltd. for over six decades.

Eveleigh, Carriageworks, art

CarriageWorks is a multi-venue arts centre in the inner city suburb of Eveleigh. It is housed in the former Eveleigh railway yards which were built between 1880 and 1889. The railway workshops on this site closed in 1988 and the heritage buildings were redeveloped into an art centre dedicated to the development and presentation of contemporary arts. The Carriageworks sign structure has been used to create a unique artwork featuring a series of portraits titled "Thom Roberts Counts Trains". Artist Thom Roberts sees people as trains and trains as people.

Scots Presbyterian Church Sydney

The Scots Presbyterian Church Sydney is bounded by Margaret Street, York Street and Jamison Street. The original heritage listed, six storey building, built in 1929, was designed by Rosenthal, Rutledge and Beattie in the Inter War Gothic style. The high rise apartment building above was built in 2005 and was designed by Tonkin Zulaikha Greer.

Westpac Place

Westpac Place is a 33 storey commercial building along Kent Street, near the corner of Napoleon Street. This skyscraper was built in 2006 as the Australian headquarters for Westpac Bank.

This bike track was located in Sydney Park, a large recreational area in the inner city suburb of Alexandria. It was used by children to learn road rules, traffic signs and signals. It is currently being redeveloped into a skate park but there will also be a new bike track. The Sydney skyline can be seen in the distance.
