Lidcombe, Russian Orthodox Church

The Holy Annunciation - Assumption Russian Orthodox Church is located along Vaughan Street, in the western suburb of Lidcombe.

  1. It does look a little like the Cathedral of the Dormition in Moscow.

  3. I had no idea many of these even existed ... and I worked at Lidcombe for 15 months! Must remind myself not to watch my feet ...

  4. I know what you mean Julie. I only discovered this impressive looking church last year, when I happened to drive past it. I had to stop the car and take a photo.

  5. I would not have expected a church like that in Sydney. You learn something everyday here.

  7. So spectacular with the onion domes. I was in awe of this architecture during the one day I spent in St. Petersburg, Russia on a cruise a few years back. My post today was also of a Russian Orthodox Cathedral in San Francisco. Sadly, photographs are not allowed of the interior and, to even gain entrance, you must attend a service.

  10. I'm Russian and I've not been able to visit a good ole Russian Orthodox church yet with great architecture. I grew up in a Russian Baptist church in Los Angeles...not the same at all except for the language :)

  11. I actually grabbed a pic of this one, whilst attending visiting. Fun Fact: There is another Russian Church 2 streets away, exept it is protestant and has no domes.
