Kirribilli, New Year's Eve celebrations

An estimated 1.5 million people crowded along the foreshore of Sydney Harbour last night to watched the fireworks to celebrate New Year's Eve. These images of the midnight fireworks were taken from the north shore suburb of Kiribilli.

  5. Wow, you had a great place to view the fireworks - a good show year after year. I was on the rooftop of a building (15th floor) in the Melbourne CBD - experienced the fireworks from up close, but not quite as spectacular as the Sydney show. And it was raining!

    Happy New Year.

  8. Diane, it took a bit of work to find this perfect spot but it was worth it. It wasn't possible to use a tripod where I was with so many people around which meant some colourful photos didn't turn out to well unfortunately.

  24. Wow, I'm glad I scrolled down to enjoy your awesome photos! I love the buildings and such, as well as the sky and water pics. I've been busy helping my daughter move and clean up her old apt and haven't been blogging as much. Now, I need to get my house clean!

  25. great shot, I think it's the spot for the fireworks, I used to live in Waruda Ave right at the water front opposite Opera House, the reason why fell in love with Sydney

  26. We were over from the UK, in Sydney for the NYE celebrations. Your photos are fantastic, and this is the view I would have really liked to have seen. We were at Mrs Macquaries Point and the pitch we had was partially obscured by trees. Although we enjoyed the spectacle we could see, it looks like Kirribilli was the place to be for a full view of the bridge. I'll remember for next time!
