Pyrmont, bays and harbours

This scenic view is from the clifftop at Giba Park, in the inner west suburb of Pyrmont. Below the cliff is Pyrmont Point Park, where Johnstons Bay meets Jones Bay and Darling Harbour. Nearby are Pyrmont Bay, White Bay, Blackwattle Bay, Rozelle Bay Walsh Bay and Cockle Bay. They are all part of Port Jackson or Sydney Harbour. Across the water, Balmain East is on the left and Barangaroo is on the right.

  1. Ah, that is a mind altering shot, Jim. Don't often see that angle. Like taking a shot from North Head down the harbour which also provides a totally different perspective.

I am continually being surprised how new parks are planted with palm trees rather than with eucalypts. I think I would much prefer a variety of eucalypt. I am not keen on the shape of the palm (not cuddly!) and they don't provide anyhing LIKE the amount of shade that a eucalypt does.

  2. Yeah, the palm trees do look out of place in some locations. It sometimes seems like they're trying to give these places a tropical island feel.
