Haberfield, bank

This former bank building on the corner of Dalhousie Street and Ramsay Street in the inner city suburb of Haberfield is now a pasticceria, an Italian pastry shop. Pasticceria Papa produces cakes, pastries, breads and pizzas. Many of the old banks and post offices in the suburbs have new uses these days. This building doubles as a cafe with seating inside and the courtyard behind the shop.

  2. At least your suburbs KEEP the old buildings rather than tear them down for yet another boring strip mall.

  3. I do so agree with Sallie, keeping old buildings for a new purpose maintains the feeling of history and they're definitely more interesting than another strip mall!! Great post as always!

«Louis» can think of worse uses of former bank buildings than recycling them into pasticcerias!

  6. It's good to see the old buildings are still around and haven't fallen victim to modernisation. The cafe looks wonderful with its timber and brown hues.
    Cheers.

  9. Rosadimaggio63, it isn't just a shop with an Italian name. It's an authentic Italian pastry shop run by Italians that make and sell traditional Italian products. Haberfield is a suburb with many Italian migrants. There are also quite a few Italian restaurants, cafes and shops here.

  12. Love all of the restored buildings. They look so much more interesting than the modern buildings & strip malls. I would love to visit, stroll along & stop to eat.
