Millers Point, wharf

 A view of Pier 9 at Walsh Bay in the inner city suburb of Millers Point. The Walsh Bay wharves were originally part of Sydney's port facilities but have now been converted into theatres, offices, hotels, apartments, restaurants, cafes and shops. This building on Piers 8/9 is used for office space. There's a glimpse of Blues Point Tower in this shot, which is the notorious apartment block at McMahons Point, across Sydney Harbour.

    This is very interesting for me because I only saw this area when it still operated as a rather unglamorous port! That pier looks so good reaching out into the water with views all round for diners!

    At the first moment I thought, it looks like a bath house. Such one we had beginning the last century here in Europe...:-)

    Good to see they have been recycled. I think that may have been where we landed when we migrated to australia in 1949.

    Reminds me of the wharf buildings in my home town of Hobart! Looks like I'll have to add this to my list for when I come to Sydney in November.

    Sallie, Blues Point Tower has been a controversial development since it was built in the early 1960s because it is so inconsistent with its surrounding buildings and cityscape. It sits right on Sydney Harbour and was designed to take advantage of the the view of the full stretch of the Harbour Bridge framing the Opera House beneath. However, it ruins views from so many other places and is regarded by many as the ugliest building in Sydney.
