Cockatoo Island, houses
These historic houses that sit high on the cliff on Cockatoo Island were built in the Federation architectural style. The houses were once home to the medical officer and engineering manager when the island was a busy shipyard. They are available as holiday accommodation these days.
Those look very spacious for a medical officer and engineering manager. The architecture doesn't appeal to me a whole lot, but I'd not hesitate to stay there while the art exhibition was on.

ReplyDeleteI wish I knew more about your geography -- how far away from where you live is Cockatoo Island? Do you stay there for a while to get all these beautiful pictures? Is it a day trip?
Sallie, Cockatoo Island is in Sydney Harbour, which is right in the middle of our city. It's located about 10 kilometres west of the central business district, so a ferry trip takes about 20 minutes. I live in a suburb which is about 11 kilometres south of the CBD, so it takes about twenty minutes to travel into the city by train. So a day trip to Cockatoo Island is quite easy.
