Hyde Park Barracks Museum, Lights of Christmas

Hyde Park Barracks Museum on Macquarie Street is currently featuring Lights of Christmas, a light projection show running from 8th December to 25th December. The show which celebrates Christmas is designed to complement the building’s historic sandstone canvas, with designs inspired by its architecture and showcasing its features.

  2. Wow, its so beautiful. It's feel so much like Christmas! These buildings look like giant presents, waiting to be unwrapped. So, beautifully decorated and illuminated in the night sky.

  5. The lights are so amazing. It is so nice to see what they can do with today's technology. It must have been a great experienced to have seen the building changing. Thank you for sharing.

  6. I was in Sydney for Christmas 2003 - New Year 2004 and I remember it as being wonderful (inluding an amazing New Year's Eve celebration on the harbor), but I don't remember these light shows. Looks like I need to go back.

  8. Jack, they've only been doing the light projections in the last few years at Christmas and the Vivid Festival. New Years Eve celebrations are always huge on Sydney Harbour.

  9. I wish I was in Sydney to see this. I like the barracks wrapped up as a present best.

  10. These are good. They came up better than mine did, I think it was still a bit too light. Although I had the unexpected bonus of fireworks. Was a bit disappointed in the lights this year, although the cathedral is stunning.

  12. Ann, they seemed to concentrate more on the animation this time rather than just presenting colourful displays.

  18. Yes, Joan, but not as many buildings involved as last Christmas or as many as the Vivid Sydney Festival. I think the three buildings that featured the light projections were enough.
