Centennial Park, bridge

This is one of the sandstone bridges over the stormwater canal in Centennial Park. This footbridge was built around 1890 and links Frog Hollow with the Column Garden

  2. How pretty in the park. The keystone construction is interesting for the small bridge. Nice.

  5. Centennial Park is quite a beautiful place. As shown here and in some of your past posts. The bridge scene is very lovely with the flowers in the distance and the shadows on the bridge itself as well as the ground. Very nice!

  7. I'm looking beyond the shadows to the lovely masses of red and yellow flowers in the background. Are they calla lilies?

  9. Reminds me of some the bridges built here in the States during the depression. Lots of our parks were developed then. - Margy

  10. Are there any water underneath? In parts of Auckland, they build big round disc thing, to collect the storm water.

  12. Ann, I'm not sure but there are paved roads throughout the park so I imagine there would be some underground stormwater drains.

  13. It is way too long since I have meandered through CP. Now would be ideal, with all the rain and muck and mire. If tomorrow is clear (ish) I shall give the morning time a go.
