The Rocks, Discovery Museum (Theme Day: Cobblestone)

The Rocks Discovery Museum is located on Kendall Lane, off Argyle Street in The Rocks. The museum is a housed in a restored 1850s warehouse and holds a collection of images and archaeological artefacts found in The Rocks, from pre-European days to the present. The Rocks, which is Sydney's oldest neighbourhood, was named by convicts who made homes there from 1788. The lane features sett paving stones which resemble cobblestones, found in many lanes in this historic area, west of Sydney Cove.

  5. Excellent theme post Jim. Like Peter said, there is an excellent synergy between locality and theme.

  6. Thank you! This is one of my favourite tourist sites in Sydney, partially for the collection but mainly because the architecture is stunning.
