The Lotus Pond is located in the Royal Botanic Gardens. It is linked to the Main Pond and sits beside the Oriental Garden. The fountain in the middle of the pond is almost swamped by the lotus or water lilies which are thriving at this time of year. A sandstone Japanese lantern can also be seen in the distance, one of two that were made in 1921 by Mr F.J. Read, Outer-Domain Stonemason.

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of Botanic Gardens being built inside the mess and noise of a modern city. And i particularly like the idea of a large watery area, filled with water lilies. A person can be truly at peace with nature here, instead of going insane at work or in traffic.
