The Rocks, Foundation Park

This monument is located at Foundation Park, off Gloucester Walk at the Rocks. Foundation Park features a collection of housing remains in the middle of this historic area. The ruins of eight houses that were built into a sandstone cliff face from 1874 to 1878 were transformed into a park in 1972. This monument demonstrates the size and shape of the houses and their features.

  3. I guess to a certain extent the homes would have been naturally insulated ... But not a lot of space.
I like the blue and orange in this capture Jim.

  6. Haven't seen this. Is it new (probably not given my powers of observance). Must have a look next time I'm down there.

    1. I'm not sure how new this is but I first noticed it earlier in the year. I don't know if I had ever walked down to Rocks Square from Gloucester Walk so it may have been there longer.

  10. Now that's unusual. It looks so strange to see such a neat incomplete house.

  14. The red door looks more like 1970s than 1870s.
