Botanic Gardens, Sweep Boy
"Sweep Boy" is one of a pair of marble statues which stand opposite each other in the Royal Botanic Gardens. They were inspired by characters from the 1842 opera "Linda da Chamonix", by Gaetano Donizetti. It is one of several statues made in Italy and installed in the Botanic Gardens in the 1880s.
I really like these sculptures Jim, the detail in his clothes is brilliant., the marble is such an appealing medium.
