Rookwood, vault

This family vault was built in 1927 in the art deco architectural style is located in the Anglican section of Rookwood Cemetery. This family vault was built for Frederick Poate, Surveyor-General of New South Wales, his wife Julia Poate and their descendants.

  1. I was in a Trivial Pursuit competition tonight and one of the questions was "which is the biggest cemetery in Australia?" Rookwood was of course the correct answer.

  3. impressive! i haven't seen this kind of vault/mausoleum here. most of the mausoleums here are designed with concrete and grille to let air circulate i guess.
