Darling Park, Sydney Monorail

The Sydney Monorail is seen here departing from Darling Park Monorail Station, at thedge of the city's central business district. It is on the corner of Sussex Street and Market Street, on the eastern end of the Pyrmont Bridge, heading towards Darling Harbour and then Chinatown. After 25 years of service, the monorail will cease operating on 30 June 2013 and will be demolished to make way for a new development. The sign painted on the side announces: Last Chance! Farewell Sydney 30.06.2013.

    1. Bill, there is a light rail service that now runs through Darling Harbour and connects to Central railway station and out to the suburbs, so there is an alternative transport system already available.

  2. Terrific capture, Jim, it'll be fun to look back on once the monorail is gone!

  4. Monorails are too cool to just be unceremoniously discarded. Nicely captured image.

  7. I love the rounded station. Very nicely shot. How sad that it's being demolished.
