Darlinghurst, murals

"We Are Here" is a 15-metre-high, 75-metre-long mural in the inner city suburb of Darlinghurst. It is on the rear façade of the old Oxford Street Municipal Chambers along Foley Street, between Palmer Street and Crown Street and incorporates the brickwork, doors, ducts, pipes, bars and grilles. This giant artwork which was created by Australian street artists, illustrators and photographers, depicts some of the city’s most significant people and events using paint, collage, drawing, paste-ups, stencils, neon lights and photography.

  1. Quite a mural though you could also call it graffiti

    1. Yuk, Jim. That’s a really interesting building now spoiled by the equivalent of a tattoo.

    2. Although, it is much better than the graffiti the laneway usually attracts.

  7. A multimedia mural? Cool. Wish I could see more details. The size alone is impressive. I bet "Meet you at the mural corner" now trips off the tongues of the folks in the neighborhood. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
