Watsons Bay, lighthouse keeper's cottage

This lighthouse keeper's cottage is located at South Head, in the eastern suburb of Watsons Bay. It is located close to the Hornby Lighthouse, in the Sydney Harbour National Park. Two sandstone cottages were designed by colonial architect Alexander Dawson and built in 1858 in the Victorian architectural style.

  1. Great looking building but I can't believe the fence was always there.

    1. It does look unusual as part of the verandah but it is a Victorian style.

  3. I like the scalloped look of the fenced in porch. The building shows it's age. Would love to visit some day. My brother in law is from Sydney.

  7. Interesting Jim. It is not obviously showing it's age and the Victorian style is not common. It looks like a very comfortable and pretty large Lighthouse keepers home. Nice share.

  8. Colonial Victorian architecture still looks stunning and absolutely suitable for Australian conditions!

Not sure about the little fence, however.
