Arncliffe, St David’s Anglican Church

St David’s Anglican Church is located along Forest Road, in the southern suburb of Arncliffe. It was built in 1915 in the Federation architectural style. It styles itself as a "cross-culture bible church, a church for people from all backgrounds, cultures and ages".

  1. A bold, no nonsense design that still suggests a feeling of grandeur. Lovely old church.

  2. I love the honest style of this church - an Anglican church in England would be clad in ornate stone, but the simpler brick seems a but more honest and austere. The conical shape on the bell tower is quite cool. Nice find!

  3. This vintage building shows exquisite detail. I am studying it to see parts that were perhaps additions over time?

    1. It was quite a surprise when I discovered that the nearby power pole had created that effect.

  6. Oooh, I love the unique round design of the steeple. It is so very different than what I normally see. Thanks for sharing this great shot in InSPIREd Sunday!

  7. I am becoming more and more interested in church architecture across all the British colonies....it was making a statement about colonial politics as well as about religion. So your Darlinghurst example, built during the mid 19th centurt, is super thank you.

But the Ancliffe example was built after the outbreak of WW1, long after Federation and I love it also!
