Bronte, Waverley Cemetery, memorial

This monument stands close to the entrance of Waverley Cemetery, in the eastern suburb of Bronte. The memorial is dedicated to the four officers killed in an 1891 submarine mine explosion at Middle Head. The Stone of Rememberance was added to the foot of the monument in 2010 to pays homage to all soldiers who have given their lives to protect Australia.

  1. Interesting memorial though I do think it a cheek to add on on the base, shureley it deserves it's own.

  2. Thanks for sharing this memorial Jim - I, for one, am very very grateful to the men and women who sacrifice their lives protecting our shores and thus enabling us to enjoy the freedoms and lifestyles we have today.

  3. My husband grew up in Bronte and Waverley, so I know the area well. I love old cemeteries in any case, but this one is particularly lovely because of the historical artefacts, sea views and open spaces.
