Eveleigh, NICTA building

The NICTA building is located along Cornwallis Street in the Australian Technology Park, in the inner city suburb of Eveleigh. NICTA is the National Information Communications Technology Australia, a research and development centre of excellence. Built in 2003, the facade of this building features rusted steel louvres down both sides.

  1. The rusted luvers make the building stand out and give it some interest which I doubt it would have if they were the same colour as the rest of the builing

  3. I love the looks of the slotted walls. I am thinking of redoing my dining room to have that effect from the outside, and adding a sliding wall so I can open it to my yard when the weather is just right.

  7. the slats on the building are really cool - almost like a beach fence or snow fence, too. :)

  8. All the buildings you share have the most interesting architectural work ever. You do a super job on all our photos.

  9. The rusted steel louvres gives it a nice appearance. Have the designers thought about catching the rust water when it is raining. Here in the netherlands that part of this kind of construction was greatly underestimated with sometimes costly repairs. The so called cor-ten steel that, after it is rusted after 5 years don't oxidized anymore is not completely true. We know now after some expensive lessons..

    1. Yes, the rusted louvres were most definitely intentional.

  11. Really interesting architecture with the rusty louvres. I wonder if they stain the ground below from the rain.
