Newtown, shops

These commercial buildings are located on the corner of King Street and Queen Street, in the inner city suburb of Newtown. The heritage listed "J Palmer Buildings" were built in 1896 in the Victorian Filigree architectural style .

    1. I agree. It's wonderful that a building from that era has survived and is being preserved.

  5. It is a wonderful building that withstood the test of time, unlike the lamp post.

  6. That is a fantastic building, perfect for the end of the Victorian era of success and growth. I would have guessed it was a pub but the iron work is way too ornate and the veranda is too elegant.

  7. Incredible attention to detail round the roofline. Almost as if the roofline is too ornate for the plainer style of the rest of the building.

  9. With this post, you've reminded «Louis» that he has more images he needs to post of the victorian village of Ferndale in far northern California. :-)
