Bondi, Birrell Street Manor
Birrell Street Manor is located on the corner of Birrell Street and Tasman Street, in the eastern suburb of Bondi. This eccentric 19th century building, which has been a saddlery, a butcher's shop and a grocery store, is now part residence, part chiropractor and osteopath studio.
I like it, especially that railing and corner room.
ReplyDeleteI am stopping by via Outdoor Wednesday- wow. this is a fascinating building! I wonder who built it? And what an interesting history it has.
ReplyDeleteCailinMarie, it's one of the oldest buildings in Bondi but I can't seem to find any information on who built it. I have provided a link in the post to a newspaper story about the owner's collection of artwork housed inside.
DeleteVictorian architecture and artwork inside? *perk*... Now you are talikng my language :)
DeleteJoe is an old Bondi boy... I know Birrell St ver well.

ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful. It looks like it should be in New Orleans. You gotta love those old iron railings.
ReplyDeleteFabulous verandah on this one Jim. Don't you wish power lines were underground sometimes?
ReplyDeleteThey are often quite frustrating.
DeleteCertainly an eccentric style. I like how the signs are like default windows and doors.
ReplyDeleteMy great grandparents George and Elizabeth Thomas ran a grocery store in this building from 1906 - 1926
