Hyde Park, Sacrilege

This artwork is currently located in Hyde Park, near St Mary's Cathedral, during the Sydney Festival from the 9th January 2014 to 26th January 2014."Sacrilege", by artist Jeremy Deller, reimagines Stonehenge as a life-size inflatable castle which people can bounce on. It was originally commissioned by Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art and the Mayor of London for the London 2012 Festival.

    Good to know it's being reused although i think I prefer the original Stonehenge!

    Sydney must have the most artists and outdoor displays of any city in the world...how lucky you are! This one makes me think, but not sure I like it...but that's the point isn't it?

      It would have been fun but the queues to bounce were so long but the people were still waiting in the scorching sun. They were actually hosing it down to keep it cool between sessions which is when I snapped it.

    My Australian grandchildren enjoyed jumping on this a few days ago. Quite funny as I actually live eight miles from Stonehenge in Wiltshire, UK.

    Heh heh! A few hours from here in Virginia there's a place called Foamhenge. It's a light-hearted recreation of Stonehenge in (you guessed it!) foam.
