Mortdale, hotel
Mortdale Hotel is located on the corner of Pitt Street and George Street, in the southern suburb of Mortdale. It was built in 1930 in the inter-war architectural style and replaced the Saltwell's Hotel which had operated near Memorial Park since 1895.

I always enjoy seeing these corner buildings, I don't think we have even one here in Perth.. I'd better check that :)

ReplyDeleteI love those old buildings shaped like this - I think it's called a "flatiron." San Francisco, where I grew up, had a number of old buildings in this style, though in earthquake country as it is bricks are rarely used.

I like this hotel. Triangular plots give the architects an opportunity to show off their skills. The designer of this building did well.
