Clovelly, bowling club

The Clovelly Bowling Club was built in 1960, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, in the eastern suburb of Clovelly. Lawn Bowls is one of the biggest participation sports in Australia. In the past it was even more popular with many more clubs across many more suburbs but not many could boast about such a spectacular backdrop.

  1. My first thought of bowling was a bowling alley, so wondered how the lanes would be set up in that slanted building! Okay, so it's lawn bowling on the courts...got it.

    1. We don't have anywhere near as many bowling alleys or players as we do lawn bowls in Australia.

  2. Quite a beautiful backdrop, Jim. We do have a number of lawn bowling facilities here, but it's not caught on in the way of other sports here.

  4. Unusual to find a bowling club so close to the coastline - or so I thought until I moved to the Mornington Peninsula. There are a few here. Great view.

  10. Me, I don't mind bowling outside if the view is like this. I could spent hours just looking at the water until I sleep hehe.

Thank you for joining Water World Wednesday
