Maroubra, St Edmunds Anglican Church
St Edmunds Anglican Church is located on the corner of Wild Street and Holden Street, in the eastern suburb of Maroubra. While it is technically located in Maroubra, it is considered to be the parish of Eastgardens and since 1998 the church has also been known as the Wild Street Anglican Church.
I like that big blob of a shadow lurking at the back of the church!

ReplyDeleteKay, the green is a patina which is the tarnish produced by oxidation.
DeleteI'm assuming that spire is copper, hence the reaction over time.
ReplyDeleteWilliam, yes it is copper which is quite a common material used in churches from this era.

ReplyDeleteIt can look good when it's completely covered in the green patina. I suspect the steeple may have had repairs done recently which is why some of the covering looks untarnished. It will eventually all be green again.
