St Agnes Catholic Church is located along Bunnerong Road in the eastern suburb of Matraville. This war memorial church was built in 1959 and is dedicated to the fallen of both World Wars in 1914-1918 and 1939-1945.
I like this church, modern yet not overwrought, massive and approachable. Very nice that it it's dedicated to those who fought to allow the continued freedom of worship...
I'm sure there were other memorial churches built before that time in Sydney, This area has a lot of housing built for the retired soldiers after the wars so it makes sense that they dedicated the church here for the local residents.
