The Balmain East Ferry wharf sits at the end of Darling Street, in the inner west suburb of Balmain East. This is a historical photo now, since the wharf was demolished recently and a new ferry wharf is currently under construction. The Sydney Harbour Bridge and Barangaroo can be seen in the distance.
I love mostly the bridge I can see in the background. A ride on the ferry sounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't 't look very historical!
ReplyDeleteThe Furry Gnome, that was just me having a bit of fun because the wharf is now history. ;)
DeleteWhy was it pulled down?
ReplyDeleteThey have progressively been replacing all the shelters on the ferry wharves over the last few years. Maybe it wasn't meeting the latest safety standards.
DeleteVery good perspective in this photo! Arianna
ReplyDeletePerhaps they pulled it down because it is downright ugly. Let's see what they replace it with!
ReplyDeleteLove the composition of this shot.
Cool shot - well captured.

nice! I love wharves. Something calming about being by the sea.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering what the next version will look like.
ReplyDeleteMrs J climbed the bridge yesterday Jim. I enlarged the photo but alas I could not see her.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo!
ReplyDeleteThe wharf has wonderful background view!

tunnels and bridges
ReplyDeleteLike the roof in the foreground, but one can also see the bridge in the background - Clever shot!
ReplyDeleteThe covered element of the pier is quite enchanting, enhancing the delightful view.
ReplyDeleteThis is one reason I take so many photos--you never know when they will be gone! I like the composition.
ReplyDeleteInteresting and I'm glad you got a photo of the old. I wonder what the new looks like. So many times I see something and think I should take a photo but don't. I need to start taking because you never know when it will be gone.
