the shadow resembles a cocktail glass, not something you'd see inside!
Were there enough glass windows to allow the natural light to stream in? My guess is that the church might have been a bit dark inside.
An architectural style you don't really see much of here.

Diana, the house is completely detached. It seems too small to have ever been used as a church hall.
