The Rocks, New York Hotel

The former New York Hotel is located along George Street at The Rocks. This five storey building is one of two heritage listed buildings built in 1908 in the Federation Free architectural style that formed the hotel. In the late 1980s, a large commercial building called the DFS Galleria, was erected behind it with the facades of this and a number of other buildings incorporated into the complex.

  1. Thanks for the link. I had forgotten that the development of the hotel had followed the 1900 plague outbreak, a rebuilding era in The Rocks,

  4. Amazing how the old facades frame the modern building - a deliberate design process. Clever and creative.
