Pyrmont, Waterfront Park, Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis is a major artwork created in 2008 which is located along the walkway in Waterfront Park, in the inner west suburb of Pyrmont. According to the sculptor, Anton James: The sculpture is based on the simple observation that the transformation taking place at Jacksons Landing reflects our changing perceptions about the landscape. The pieces that make up "Metamorphosis", like the basic elements of the site, remain constant, only their orientation and one's perception of them changes. Waterfront Park is part of Jacksons Landing, the residential and commercial property redevelopment that has taken place on the former site of the former site of a sugar refinery, rum distillery and cooperage which built rum barrels, operated by the Colonial Refining Company, later CSR Limited. The newer apartments in the background near the water are called Reflections and the older redeveloped building is called Cooperage, with a reminder to its previous use.

  4. Sydney appears to spare not a cent to make its city a memorable one. All of your pictures of your city pay tribute to that. These sculpted white benches are stunning. How creative.

  6. Always interesting to see a series of photos of your surroundings which I have not seen yet. Thank for visiting. I didn't take the photo in my post. It was from a leaflet in New Zealand.
