Lewisham Hospital, Mary Potter Wing

The Mary Potter Wing of the former Lewisham Hospital, is located along West Street in the inner west suburb of Lewisham. The Catholic hospital built in 1889 was first run by the Little Company of Mary, whose convent adjoined the grounds of St Thomas's Catholic Church. The hospital closed in 1988 when it was purchased by the St Vincent de Paul Society and redeveloped into an aged care facility. This building is now used by the St Patrick's Institute of Education.

  3. This is such a lovely bit of architecture. I am so glad it is still in use for the elderly and as a teaching institute.

  4. That's a really nice wrought iron fence and that building is super cool looking. It's good that it's still being used.

  5. I did a double-take as I thought it was in Lewisham in the UK! But I quickly realized you are in Sydney, Australia. The building looks so English!
