Hurstville, St Mary’s Star of the Sea

The former St Mary’s Star of the Sea convent is located on the corner of Forest Raod and Croydon Road, in the southern suburb of Hurstville. It was built in 1886 and is now part of Bethany College, a Catholic girl's high school.

    1. It's up high on a ridge and you would be able to see down on the suburbs towards Botany Bay.

  6. The 1886 architecture and wrought iron decoration were beautiful, and well preserved. I am glad there isn't a single red brick showing... the stone or render is much more suitable for a girls' school.

  7. I am always amazed that with some little details the whole get a religious look without difficulty. Nice one here.

  10. The former convent is beautiful, I assume beyond its structure and brick fence there is a splendid view of the water. Nice architecture too!
