Chippendale, bank

The former English, Scottish and Australasian Bank is located along Broadway, in the inner city suburb of Chippendale. It was designed by Robertson and Marks and built in 1930 in the Inter-War Free Classical architectural style. When I photographed this building it was a bar, bistro and nightclub. It is now known as Jesuit House, a residence for graduates from Jesuit schools and serves as a volunteer study, socialising and planning centre and outreach to the poor.

  1. Nice that this building has a second and worthy purpose!
A kind reminder to link up the Jesuit house for SEASONS - hope to see you there, and have a happy week!

  2. It is a very refined and uncluttered building. From a bank, to a nightclub to a Jesuit facility :)

  3. Hi Jim. There's a fine old building. Good to hear that it's being still enjoyed and looked after.
