This contemporary building at St Peters dwarfs the heritage buildings on the platform of St Peters railway station, in the inner city suburb of St Peters. The station opened in 1884 as part of the Illawarra railway line to Hurstville and later also served the Bankstown and East Hills. Since the early 1990s only services on the Bankstown line stop here.

ReplyDeleteHi Jim — I've always loved trains and train stations. At least the tall buildings behind the station are attractive in a very modern way, so as not to look incongruous with the station.

There is some graffiti around this place as you do seem to find around railway stations these days but I happened to find a good angle that avoided it all.
DeleteWhat do the four contemporary buildings at St Peters do? Do they have anything to do with the trains? If they are blocks of flats, are the residents disturbed by the sound of the trains?
ReplyDeleteI believe they are blocks of flats/apartments. I think the noise factor might explain why most of the windows are on the front and side.
