Ultimo, Broadway

This commercial building is located along Broadway, in the inner city suburb of Ultimo. The three storey building with Venetian style windows, was built in the Victorian Italianate architectural style. It originally housed a dentist, chemist and the offices of a chemist co-operative company.

Birchgrove, pontoon

A yacht arrives at this pontoon at the end of Yeend Street, as a ferry heads into Mort Bay in the inner west suburb of Birchgrove. Across the bay is the Waterview Wharf Workshops at Balmain East, with the Sydney city skyline in the background. The Fishburn is a First Fleet Class ferry acquired in 1985 and is part of the fleet that operates on the Inner Harbour. It was named Fishburn, after the one of eleven ships of the First Fleet that sailed to Australia in 1787.

Marrickville, street art

This mural is has been painted on a shopfront roller shutter along Enmore Road, in the inner west suburb of Marrickville. The mural was created by street artist Le Grizz and covers a previous target of taggers.

Woronora, bridge


The Old Woronora Bridge crosses the Woronora River, between the southern suburbs of Sutherland and Woronora. The new Woronora River Bridge is a high level bridge which was completed in 2001 to eliminate the steep descents and ascents for traffic, located just north of the low level Old Woronora Bridge.

Ultimo, payphone

This payphone is located along Mary Ann Street in the inner city suburb of Ultimo. It stands on the edge of Mary Ann Park opposite the Sydney Technical College building, which is part of the Sydney Institute of TAFE (Technical and Further Education). This payphone has a pink cap on top with a white Wi-Fi symbol and promotional signs on the glass.

Shark Beach is located off Nielsen Park, in the eastern suburb of Vaucluse. The netting creates a swimming bath in Vaucluse Bay which provides protection from sharks in Sydney Harbour.

Customs House

Customs House, viewed from Customs Square along Alfred Street at Circular Quay. This heritage listed building was designed by Mortimer Lewis and built in 1845 in the Georgian architectural style for customs services. It was modified in 1887 by architect James Barnet with the original building partially dismantled and rebuilt to three storeys with side wings to form a U-shape in plan. By 1903, alterations W.L. Vernon architect resulted in the addition of two new floors and a wing in the rear courtyard forming a E-shape in plan. Further modifications were made by George Oakeshott in 1917 which saw the building enclosed on all four sides with a lightwell and the ground floor opened as a large space. Further modifications occured throughout the years including a major conservation and refurbishment project in 1997. Bounded by Young Street, Loftus Street and Customs House Lane, it houses the City of Sydney Library, Quay Bar, Young Alfred, Cafe Sydney and the Barnet Long Room.

Centennial Park, Taste of Sydney Festival

The Taste of Sydney Festival was held last weekend at Brazilian Fields, near Loch Avenue and Dickens Drive, in the centre of Centennial Park. This promotional display on the back of a ute for 666 Pure Tasmanian Vodka featured lemons, limes, tomatoes, chilli peppers and bottles of vodka in wooden barrels.

Arncliffe, house

Newstead, previously known as Wyndyknowe, is a heritage listed house located on the corner of Carlton Street and Wolli Creek Road in the southern suburb of Arncliffe. It was built in 1889 in the Victorian Italianate architectural style. It is currently used as a boarding house.

The Rocks, Harrington Street, mural

This is one of four murals that have been painted on the underpass of the Cahill Expressway where it crosses Harrington Street, at The Rocks. The award winning murals were created by Geoff Williams in 2011, depicting the city as it was in the past. "Spying on the Colony 1793" shows a panting by Italian Ferdinand Brambila who in 1793 joined a scientific and spying expedition by King Juan Carlos IV of Spain and led by Alessandro Malaspina to report on the English colony in Sydney. The view shows the three Spanish ships anchored off Bennelong Point and Bridge Street leading up to the Governor's residence. The three shops in the bottom left corner stood at the corner of what became the intersection of George Street and Grosvenor Street.

Ultimo, Uniting Church

Ultimo Uniting Church is located on the corner Quarry Street and Bulwara Road, in the inner city suburb of Ultimo. It was originally a Presbyterian Church built in 1883 in the Victorian Gothic architectural style. In 1977, the Presbyterians combined with the Methodist and Congregational churches to form the Uniting Church in Australia. A non-denominational group begun in 1996 which became The MustardSeed later moved into the church, becoming a Uniting Church faith community in 1998. The heritage listed building was restored in 2004.

Ultimo, Broadway

These commercial buildings are located along Broadway, in the inner city suburb of Ultimo. The two buildings are both two storey Federation Free architectural style commercial buildings built around 1910. The one on the left is more ornate and originally housed a billiards saloon and refreshment rooms, later becoming a confectioners. The one on the right originally housed a grocery shop and from 1916 became part of Hoskings department store. They were redeveloped in 2002 as part of the Quadrant on Brooadway apartments and now house restaurants and a health food shop.

Bondi Beach, pool

The Main Pool is an ocean swimming pool at Bondi Baths, part of the Bondi Icebergs Swimming Club along the cliff looking out on the Pacific Ocean, in the eastern suburb of Bond Beach. The Bondi Icebergs Winter Swimming Club was founded in 1929 by a group of committed local Bondi lifesavers who wanted to maintain their fitness during the winter months.

Wolli Creek, Tempe House

Tempe House sits on the southern shore of the Cooks River, in the southern suburb of Wolli Creek. This heritage listed house was designed by John Verge and built in 1836 in the Neo-Classical Georgian architectural style. The estate was owned by merchant Alexander Brodie Spark and named after the 'Vale of Tempe', a beautiful valley in ancient Greek legend set at the foot of Mount Olympus in Greece. The small hill on the eastern side is also known as Mount Olympus and the estate gave its name to the suburb of Tempe, on the northern shore of Cooks River. In 1863, philanthropist Caroline Chisholm ran an educational establishment for young ladies in Tempe House. From 1887, along with the nearby St Magdalen's Chapel, it was part of The Retreat, a charitable refuge for women known run by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan.

Tempe, sports centre, mural

The Robyn Webster Sports Centre is located in Tempe Reserve, in the inner west suburb of Tempe. It features outdoor netball courts and indoor netball, volleyball and soccer courts. 'Gift Given' is a mural created by Bronwyn Bancroft which covers 3,800 square metres of the building. The Aboriginal art features fish, sand goannas, rainbow serpents, men and women in diamond formations. It is the largest mural in the Southern hemisphere and the detailed walls and roof are a landmark for planes landing at nearby Sydney Airport.

Surry Hills, lane (Theme Day: Black and White in Colour)

This commercial and residential building is located on the corner of Albion Way and Bellevue Lane, in the inner city suburb of Surry Hills. Located in the former Porter's Paints building, The Minamilist is the home and studio space of interior stylist, who sources unique, limited edition and designer made product from around the world.
