St Matthias Church Hall is located long Oxford Street, near St Matthias Anglican Church, in the eastern suburb of Paddington. This heritage listed building was built in the late 1800s in the Victorian Academic Gothic architectural style. It was modified as part of road widening works during the 1950s where the façade was removed and a new façade built. The shape of the central window was changed to a circular form, brick detailing was lost and corner buttresses deleted.
The stark symmetry of the church is somehow enhanced by shadows.

I think it's the newer versions of Chrome that don't allow me to comment here as I haven't been able to but I am out of town and on my old laptop which has an older un-upatable version of Chrome and I see that I can post a comment here. Odd.

DeleteRoad and planning have a lot to answer for with churches and churhyards being desicrated, good the rest of the church hall is still there
