Darling Harbour, Australian National Maritime Museum

This vessel is moored at Wharf 7 of Sydney Wharf, as part of the permanent display of the Australian National Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour. The Commonwealth Lightship 4 Carpentaria is a floating unmanned lighthouse that was built in 1917. It was anchored in locations where a permanent light could not be built, until it was retired in 1985. King Street Wharf and the Sydney skyline can be seen across the harbour.

  4. A floating lighthouse sounds a good idea!
It certainly stands out in this location, too.

  5. I don't normally involve myself in war and killing, but the Australian National Maritime Museum was very sensitively presented.

  6. Not seen a floating lighthouse before but what a sensible idea. Love the colour of the boat.

  7. Now, this is a cool boat! I have seen fire fighting ships but they have nothing to do with this beauty. #OurWorldTuesday
