The Rocks, Vivid Sydney, Earth

"Earth" is an artwork suspended from the Overseas Passenger Terminal for the Vivid Sydney festival. It fuses detailed NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface with a composition of cosmic sounds, hoping to create the sense of awe and wonder experienced by astronauts as they view our planet from outer space. The work measures 3.75 metres in diameter and was created by British artist Luke Jerram with a surround-sound composition by composer Dan Jones.

  3. Earth is a pretty large artwork, and the sounds must add to the impressiveness of it. Many thanks for sharing that with All Seasons!

  4. How wonderful it must be to experience this piece of art in person!
(And I couldn't fail to notice that Australia is the centre of the artist's universe, as each of us must feel about his or her own country.)
