Penshurst, railway station

The entrance to Penshurst railway station, in the southern suburb of Penshurst. It is served by Sydney Trains T4 line services on the Illawarra & South Coast Line. Penshurst station opened in 1886 with a single line from Hurstville to Sutherland. It was relocated south to its current location in 1905 when a deviation double track was built.

  1. Penshurst station originally opened in 1886, so I hope when the building was relocated, all the original features were retained. It looks great.

  2. Hels, they originally built weatherboard buildings on either side of the line. They then built a brick building between the two tracks and an overhead bridge.
