The Richard Stanton memorial sculpture is on a plinth, in the middle of Richard Stanton Memorial Garden in the inner west suburb of Haberfield. It was created to acknowledge the foresight of Richard Stanton, who created Australia's first 'Garden Suburb'. Marion light rail stop can be seen in the background.

I visited many of the first garden suburbs in the UK, loving both the philosophy and the practice. Ebenezer Howard was a genius, copied quickly in other countries as we can see in Haberfield. Well done, Mr Stanton :)

Good for him...he deserves to be honored.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting that it can be attributed to one person. I never thought about it before :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your contribution to 'My Corner of the World' this week!
