Sydenham railway station is a junction for the T4 Illawarra, T8 East Hills and T3 Bankstown railway lines, in the inner west suburb of Sydenham. It opened on 15 October 1884 as Marrickville on the Illawarra line to Hurstville. It was renamed Sydenham on 19 January 1895 when the Bankstown line opened to Belmore and a new railway station was built closer to the centre of Marrickville.
