Endeavour Bridge carries General Holmes Drive across the Cooks River from the eastern suburb of Mascot to the southern suburb of Kyeemagh, close to Botany Bay. It is named after the HMB Endeavour, the ship commanded by Captain James Cook, an English explorer, navigator and cartographer. The crew of the Endeavour arrived in Botany Bay in 1770 and was the first recorded European expedition to navigate and map the eastern coastline of Australia.
