Brighton-Le-Sands, mural

This mural has been painted on three large shipping containers in Cook Park overlooking Lady Robinsons Beach and Botany Bay, in the southern suburb of Brighton-Le-Sands. The local council placed these here recently after several large trees were illegally cut down with chainsaws. New trees have now been planted and the containers will stay in place to give them time to grow and become established and to deter future vandalism at the site. The mural features a yellow tailed black cockatoo amongst the blooms of a native Banksia tree, feasting on the pods.

  1. A clever way to stop the vandalism and give new trees a chance to grow strong. Plus, it's a beautiful mural with a purpose.

  2. Nicely done. I guess someone wanted views and cut the trees down. It has happened here at beaches and councils have in the past put up screens where it has occurred.

    1. There are also too many suspects in a house and blocks of flats who might want to improve their direct view of the bay.

  3. Something great came from something "very dumb".

  4. Sad that the trees were illegally cut down, but glad the council found a way to make the area pretty with the painted containers and has planted new trees. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Jim.

  5. Nice and colorful. It's a shame about the trees.
