Erskineville, art (Theme Day: Right Under Your Nose)

This artwork is located on the facade of a former warehouse along Rochford Street, in the inner city suburb of Erskineville. "The Lips" features a mural created by artist Rachel Szalay in 2020, celebrating the Australian Golden Wattle and Flowering Gum Trees. The warehouse was built in the 1930s and was previously used as a co-working space for creative industry freelancers, small businesses and entrepreneurs. It has now been redeveloped and converted into a couple of residential properties. I photographed this artwork when the lips featured a different design, which can be seen here and originally when they were a plain red, which can be seen here

  1. Pucker up!
Not sure how this art work celebrates wattles and gum trees, I must be missing the allusion!

    1. It's the mural itself which celebrates the flowers. The lips were already there.

  10. It's amazing the changes these lips have taken over time. Great 3-D art.
