Marrickville, mural

This artwork is on the wall beside the travelators which link the ground floor of Marrickville Metro shopping centre to the first floor car park, in the inner west suburb of Marrickville. A number of these flower murals in this location were painted in 2018 by Andrew Dennis from Studio Dennis.

Waverley, Uniting War Memorial Hospital


The main entrance of the Uniting War Memorial Hospital, built in the Spanish Mission style, is located along Birrell Street in the eastern suburb of Waverley. The E. Vickery Memorial Building and grounds were gifted to the Methodist Church for use as a private hospital in 1919. The church added to the site by acquiring adjacent properties. The operating theatre wing was dedicated in memory of those from the district who lost their lives in World War One, including the boys of the 21st and 22nd Waverley-Woolhara Senior cadets. In 1977, the Methodist Church became part of the Uniting Church of Australia.

Sydney Park is a former brickworks which has been transformed into a large recreational area in the inner city suburb of Alexandria. These stepping stones allow walkers to cross a pond in the wetlands.

In 1977, the Methodist Church became part of the Uniting Church of Australia.

George Street, Lunar Lanterns, Tiger

 Lunar Lanterns have been installed around the city to celebrate the Sydney Lunar New Year Festival. This year is the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac. These pairs of lunar lanterns are installed along George Street, opposite World Square, opposite Wilmot Street and opposite the Queen Victoria Building. The zodiac symbol of the Tiger can be characterised as enthusiastic, courageous, ambitious and a born leader.

George Street, Lunar Lanterns, Dog

Lunar Lanterns have been installed around the city to celebrate the Sydney Lunar New Year Festival. This year is the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac. This Dog lantern is installed opposite the Pavilion on George Building along George Street. The Zodiac symbol of the Dog is characterised as loyal and honest, amiable and kind, although not always good at communicating.

This Pig lantern is installed opposite the Queen Victoria Building along George Street. The Zodiac symbol of the Pig is characterised as honourable, philanthropic, optimistic, incredibly focused to achieve great things.

Waverley, E. Vickery Memorial Building

 
The E. Vickery Memorial Building is a heritage listed building built in the Victorian style, located along Birrell Street in the eastern suburb of Waverley. It was built for Ebenezer Vickery, a merchant, manufacturer and philanthropist, who was a staunch Methodist. It is now part of the Uniting War Memorial Hospital campus and was the former home of the Vickery family, who gifted the home and grounds to the Methodist Church for use as a private hospital in 1919. The church added to the site by acquiring adjacent properties. In 1977, the Methodist Church became part of the Uniting Church of Australia.

Looking across a pond in Sydney Park, a large recreational area in the inner city suburb of Alexandria. The former brickworks have been transformed into parkland and wetlands. Stormwater is collected and recycled from surrounding suburban streets to provide constant running water in the wetlands. Some of the ponds are currently covered in green plants.

George Street, Lunar Lanterns, Tiger

 
Lunar Lanterns have been installed around the city to celebrate the Sydney Lunar New Year Festival. This year is the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac. The City of Sydney invited young talent to create the artwork with a design competition. The colourful artworks of six designs are featured on street banners, bus shelters and billboards. This is one of two designs which have also been transformed into lunar lanterns and installed at the front of Sydney Town Hall along George Street. The zodiac symbol of the Tiger can be characterised as enthusiastic, courageous, ambitious and a born leader.

This Horse lantern is installed opposite the Queen Victoria Building along George Street. The Zodiac symbol of the Horse is characterised as animated, active and energetic.

Lunar Lanterns have been installed around the city to celebrate the Sydney Lunar New Year Festival. This year is the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac. This Snake lantern is installed outside the Queen Victoria Building on the corner of George Street and Druitt Street. It was created by Alexandra Sommer and Brad Clark and inspired by children's craft. The zodiac symbol of the Snake can be characterised as being sly or ruthless, however signifies wisdom and humour.

Surry Hills, mural

A colourful flower mural has been painted on the facade of this office building, on the corner of Riley Street and Devonshire Street, in the inner city suburb of Surry Hills. "The Flower House" was created in 2018 by artist Nic Green, aka Nico. His inspiration sprung from the work of local textile designer Lola Phillips, giving a nod to the area's history as a textile district.

Waverley, L.E. King Building

The L.E. King Building, built in the Victorian style, is located along Birrell Street in the eastern suburb of Waverley. It is part of the Uniting War Memorial Hospital campus and now houses the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children. The original hospital building was the former home of the Vickery family who gifted the home and grounds to the Methodist Church for use as a private hospital in 1919. The church added to the site by acquiring adjacent properties. In 1977, the Methodist Church became part of the Uniting Church of Australia.

Eveleigh, The Foundry

The Foundry is located along Central Avenue, in the inner city suburb of Eveleigh. This 8-storey commercial office building with ground level retail was built in 2019 at the Australian Technology Park. The building takes its name from the foundry that was located at the former Eveleigh Railway Workshops on this site.

Clovelly, Gordons Bay

A view of the Cliffbrook Parade walkway from Victory Street, in the eastern suburb of Clovelly. A pair of arriving surf rescue life guards stopped to chat to another pair who were departing after patrolling the beach. A group of divers can be seen heading down the walkway to dive from the rocks into the bay.
