Kogarah, Anzac Memorial

The Anzac memorial stands in Kogarah Town Square, along Belgrave Street in the southern suburb of Kogarah. The sculpture commemorates the nurses and soldiers who served on the Greek Island of Lemnos during the Gallipoli campaign in 1915 and 1916 during World War One, and the role of Lemnos in the campaign. Unveiled in 2017, the bronze statue of the injured soldier and the metal frame outline of a nurse was created by Takis Kozokos with the plaque created by Dr Ross Bastiaan.

  2. Teacher, so am I! My generation is the last one to have a direct connection to the 1914-18 War, and I am afraid after that, our children and grandchildren won't even remember when and where it was.

  3. Putting up a monument to the brave fallen is a small gesture of appreciation for their actions. Thank you for taking part in the My Sunday Best meme, Jim.
