This pivot crane is on display in Mitchell Way near the corner of Locomotive Street, in the inner city suburb of Eveleigh. This was once the site of the Eveleigh Railway Yards and this pivot crane was used from about 1925 in the now demolished Wheel Shop in the manufacture of locomotive wheels. The NICTA building behind it is the National Information Communications Technology Australia, a research and development centre of excellence built in 2003.
Nice idea to leave the crane. We have a huge crane left in a part of Stockholm that has been completely transformed in the last 20 years.
ReplyDeleteThe buildings behind are so 1960s looking! #THruMyLens
ReplyDeleteIt was built in 2003 as part of the Australian Technology Park.
DeleteWell worth keeping in place.
